Have just returned from a trip out to Mudgee, the Hunter Valley and Port Macquarie.
Weather was perfect all the way.

The Railway Station at Mudgee is a very fine building. The story goes that the plans for Mudgee's railway station and that of a town in India were both sent to the British Empire planning authority for approval. The two very different plans were mixed up and the one for India was sent to Australia and visa versa. Hence the beautiful building we see here. I would like to see the one in India, I imagine it is a very modest affair.

The view from "Flirtation Hill" Gulgong

Gulgong, known as the "ten dollar town"

The town of Gulgong was very interesting. The main street looks like it is still basically the same as it was in 1870. It boasts it's own Opera House which was opened in 1871 and is named the Prince of Wales Opera House. Dame Nellie Melba once sang there and it is still in use today. We visited the Museum of Henry Lawson (who lived nearby when he was a boy) a very interesting exhibit.
The Hunter Valley gardens are most impressive and a highlight of our trip. It took a good couple of hours to see all around them.

Finally completed granny square blanket for Jenny. It's one of the few things that I have completed that I am happy with. It took a few months but should last a lifetime hopefully.
Am now working on a christening shawl, goodness knows how long that will take! It will need to be completed by August somehow.
